Northwest Fishing Reports

Well..... I've been trying my best to get into some serious bass fishing techniques,, but I just gotta admit it... I'm a sucka for fishing with night crawlers. My problem is when it's this warm out I always have a hard time keeping the crawlers healthy. I've tried putting their little styro. container in a little bit of cool water, but it seems to always absorb water, and then wormy dies:-({|=
I've tried a few other things too. I just want to know if anyone knows of a good sort of bait box that is still small, and yet sort of insulated from the sun/heat.

You could keep the worms and container out of the heat in a small ice chest

I know it seems kind of silly, but even in an ice chest they seem to take on water. Of course one option would be to put them in a small tupperware, and then put that in a small ice chest. I was just curious if anyone has purchased a bait box that is effective.

We would always take the coffe grains from the day before and put them in the fridge with some dirt and and the crawlers in it the night before, I dont know if they go dorment or what but the next morning wet you a towel and wrap around the container and keep them in the shade or wrapped in that wet towel and they will pretty much stay cool for the day. The way we did it if we had crawlers left after the fishing day I got a 10 gal fish aquarium full of dirt and coffe grounds in the garage i just dump them back in there and you never hardly run out inless the bluegill are on bed then thats when you go through the night crawlers.

shade is the key, never put worms in the sun or on sun heated metal. dont put them in the tackle box either way to much heat.i like to put them under the boat seat with something under them. i like the wet towel idea.
