I went to one of the links from here where it gives the rules for freshwater fishing. Me being from Kentucky I have always fished yead around for bass and crappie and catfish. It says on the website there are only certain months you can fish these bodies of water. Mostly from last saturday in April until October 31st. Is this the lake period or certain species in the lake or what. Just havent ever fished in WA so dont really know what that means all new to me.
Thanks
Jason

It is the open season for particular lakes. Many of the lowland lakes are only open for fishing from the last Saturday in April until October 31st. These lakes are primarily smaller bodies of water where the majority of the trout population is planted. However, most larger lakes (and many smaller ones) are open year round. Pick up a copy of this years fishing rules and regulations. If the lake is not listed in the book as having the April to October season, it is open year round. For example, I see that your location is listed as "Tacoma", so Spanaway and American would be two lakes near you that are open year round, at least last time I checked the regs.

Jason, your best bet is to pick up a Fishing in Washington handbook. They are free and can be found in most sporting goods stores. Or you can download the whole thing at this link.

And yes, we do have seasons for a lot of lakes and species. Not very fun but it is what we have to deal with.
Good luck out there man.
