RE:Landlocked Silvers?
They haven't been planting Keechelus with kokanee the last of couple years for some reason. I don't know if they are biting, I haven't been up there for awhile. I know they do spawn in Gold Creek.
The lake is listed in the spring plan to have cuttthroat this year.

RE:Landlocked Silvers?
Well i have heard of kokanee in bunches in Keechelus so it seems that my presumptions were correct and I drive past this lake all the time and was wondering if anyone knew how deep this lake can get.

RE:Landlocked Silvers?
Exactly...can a moderator contact fishingmachine about this? Marc where are you dude? You seem to follow me around everywhere I go fishingmachine and clog the threads and when members want to come in here and guests alike they have to sift through your posts which hold very little substance...I don't think hardly any of your posts are that helpful...sorry to come across this way, but stop following me around, and stop posting stupid comments that you don't need to say that are clogging the threads. Please only respond if you have something informative to say that adds to the knowledge-base of the thread...you are hijacking others' threads and it's not becoming, not in the slightest form.Sam Kafelafish wrote:fishingmachine: Please stop changing the topic of threads. Also, proper punctuation goes along ways in posting...I won't read your posts anymore cause you can type better than this...your lazy...I'm calling you out on it. If you are 15 you should command better use of the English language and be able to punctuate properly...at least seperate thoughts from questions...

RE:Landlocked Silvers?
I have a feeling you may be talking about Merwin??????
RE:Landlocked Silvers?
Sending off the deposit for the cabin rental this morning for the 18-19 of April.
Not to change the subject but just the species.
What would you guys use to target the Brookies?
Got a boat so that increases coverage and options.
Never really targeted Brookies before.
Need some suggestions so I can hit up 3rivers before we go. I do tie my own flies so anything along that line I should be able to handle.
Any secrets for catching Kokes would also be welcome.
PM me if you don't want to post to the world.
Has anyone tried the scented corn for Kokes or just a waste of money?
Bill

RE:Landlocked Silvers?
There are good numbers of Burbot in both Keechelus and Kachess. I used to do pretty well on set lines for them, which are no longer legal. Kachess has so many Squawfish that they used to eat up most of the bait.
I haven't tried the store bought scented corn for kokes yet, I tried the fire corn for trout and have caught a couple. I usually just buy the green giant white shoepeg corn, and sometimes I mix it with my own scent. Gang trolls and Mini Dodgers with some combo of Maggots and Corn and or a lure work well.

RE:Landlocked Silvers?
Hopefully someone can answer my quesiton! Are kokanees more active or shallower in late summer? I don't target these I usually bass fish. But the lake I live on I always catch these in August and September in about 10-20ft of water.
RE:Landlocked Silvers?
You should try the pautske fire corn. Its just some "brined" corn that comes in all diffrent colors. But I have heard that the Green Giant shoepeg corn is the best. And the new Dick Nite scent it supposed to be the top koke scent.
RE:Landlocked Silvers?
Well I'm not sure about all the lakes. But LK. Cushman and Kachess even in the summer have been down deep. Around 30-60ft. However,I've caught kokes on a fly-rod from the shorline. So,I probably just created more questions. Feel free to punch me in the back of the head.bassmasterderek wrote:Hopefully someone can answer my quesiton! RE:Landlocked Silvers?
In late fall the Silvers that are land locked Sockeye spawn along certain shores and creek mouths of the lake (some spawn up creeks). In LATE SUMMER they start cruising and staging these areas just like there salt water kin do before they spawn. Thats why they can be caught in shallow water that time of year. I have never caught the yearlings in shallow water.
Well its not called Catching!

Your point is well taken, but at least here on the East Side, you have a tough time with the old timers calling both silvers.eustace wrote:I beg to disagree, I always understood that Silvers in the lakes are actually land locked Sockeye! This may depend on the lake, here on the east side of the state alteast they are land locked Sockeye.
Too much water, so many fish, too little time.

RE:Landlocked Silvers?
gpc- I have a brand new bottle of the Dick Nite Kokanee Gel I got for free at a fishing derby, says it contains Corn, Shrimp, Krill and Anise.
Will also be trying the Pautzke Liquid Krill.
Im a firm believer in using scent, probably more to cover my scent than anything else but some of that stuff leaves a big slick in the water.
Picked up some anchovies today to try at Rufus- BIG BAIT= BIG FISH I hope#-o

[ If you want a good time in the summer and you are passing through stop by when the water level is way down and you can find all kinds of kokanee gear on the logs if they haven't already been picked clean by others. It's a hike, but something to do none the less.[/quote]
OK, I'm being Ignant, LOL, but you've got to be talking about the lake that is right over the East side of Snoqualmie pass, specificly I mean the lake in which the water level sometimes goes WAY down, and you see all of the stumps sticking up. If this is correct... I def.. can see how a person could go tackle shopping in and around those stumps.

Yes, it is the one that you can see on your right just past the summit heading east.

Heading east just after the pass, the 1st. lake with all the stumps is Keechelus, followed by Kachess and then Cle Elum. All 3 lakes are very similar, around the same size, depth and species. A ton of kokanee, burbot, cutthroat, squawfish and even the occasional lake trout. These lakes then then begin the flow of the Yakima River(awesome fishing):thumleft: :thumright

RE:Landlocked Silvers?
There you go Bill, get that next state record. Ever since Dick Nite came out with scent I wanted it, and I have heard only good things about it. But I have yet to come accros any. Joes, Sportsmans, Cabelas, and about 30 tackle shops accros the state no dick nite scent, bummer.northfork wrote:gpc- I have a brand new bottle of the Dick Nite Kokanee Gel I got for free at a fishing derby, says it contains Corn, Shrimp, Krill and Anise.

RE:Landlocked Silvers?
There are some safety issues I should cover regarding these 3 lakes. If anyone actually reads this and/or cares. But I would have to start a thread about that.kevinb wrote:quadradomus wrote:[ If you want a good time in the summer and you are passing through stop by when the water level is way down and you can find all kinds of kokanee gear on the logs if they haven't already been picked clean by others.
