Hey guys,

I am looking to get some leeches next time I go out, all I really find are night crawlers at walmart and the local texaco. Anyone know where to get them...prefferably closer to the Airway Hieghts local....

Thanks

I would be kinda shocked if you find them out there, they are even tough to come by out here in Minnesota, where most of them come from. Tough year for leeches out here.

Northside fishing use to sale them, but they shut down a few years ago.
The guy there told me they were seasonal or somthing like that, so he
never had them year round. Call sportsmans warehouse.

Thanks for the info guys...

Lemme backtrack a little

I am fishing for walleye at the Little Falls Dam in lincoln county. I have caught two them one on a powerbait grub, the second on a gitzit spider jig. I have pulled a couple of smallmouth out of there too. Another guy has pulled some chinooks out of there on a krocodile spoon . I have heard alot of people talking about using jigs to catch these guys. Are they talking about something similar to a crappie jig. Wedding rings I have not tried, but I think thats more for trolling.

I have seen some baitfish in the shallows if that helps.

has anyone ever fished this area? should I try further away from the dam? The turbines reall make it difficult because of drift, but sometimes they are shut off in the early morning...

Thanks for any info...

I use 2 and a half to 3 inch tubes and curlytails for Walleye.
Just like a Crappie jig but bigger.
Little falls has always been a good spring time spot but this time of the year I would fish farther down.
Mill creek, Porcupine bay, Fort Spokane and Hawk creek are all good spots.
Make sure you have a bit of crawler on the jigs.
You can catch fish at the dam with Crankbaits as well.
Rapala Shad-Raps work good for me. Try the #7 in the Firetiger pattern.

I have a rap in the firetiger...its a diver, i think 4-6 feet but hinged...

I have some powerbait tubes, and curly tail grubs...I usually pick them up on the grubs, like I said before.

Thanks for the help....

I am probably going to go to the dam again this weekend if anyone wants to join

I know of no source in the Spokane area for leaches, at least not that you can buy.

White's Outdoors was the last to carry them, and when they closed down the sporting goods section and reverted back to just White's Boots, our last source was lost.

Sportsman's Warehouse has never carried them in Spokane.

Now that a new disease has been found in fish, and also in Leaches, I think it is called VHS, I have heard tail that the State of Washington will follow Idaho's lead and outlaw the use of Leaches and Waterdogs next year, so perhaps it is better to learn to not use leaches.

Use an artificial. Fish it like a jig.

My uncle lives near Airway Heights, and he has to order his leaches on line. He swears by them for Walleye, but has the same problem. There is a Walleye fishing club right in your area....
