Northwest Fishing Reports

I have caught many panfish many different way but its always fun to try something new. I picked up some of the berkley power honey worms. I was wondering if any of you guys have fished with these little guys. I picked up all of the colors available for the honey worms. I was just wondering if I should use this on a small hook or jig head on a slip bobber rig? Or are they more for lazy fishing with no retrieve? I am heading out tomorrow to my spot to test them out so any advise will help.

cool so I could just throw them in the openings of the weed beds like I do with night crawlers and let their hunger take its course. Do they need any motion to make them effective or are they used mostly as a scent bait like worms???

Yes, just drop them in the openings. Most of the time they are hit on the way down. If they don't hit quickly (within a minute) then reel it in try again. It depends on if the fish are just under the weeds at the surface or down at the bottom. I only used the light colored one. I can't remember if it was white or yellow. I had used power (or berkley) maggots and when I couldn't find them the honey worms worked just as well.

I tried them out today and they work pretty well. Fished all day and my girlfriend and I pulled out over 25 blue gill,4 perch,1 crappie, and 1 yellow sunfish. (all catch and release) I panfished for most of the day and had luck on the power worms (only tried the yellow and white ones so far). I also had luck jigging with the Berkley trout worms on a small jig head with a trailer hook near the tail end.
During breaks in the action with the little guys I rigged up my bass rod and set it up with a skirted football head jig and a plastic craw. I managed to catch a 3.5lb large mouth on that set up but that was it for bass for the day.

I should have my boat ready for my next weekend outing so I will have to try and vary some more techniques for the honey worms.
