I'm heading over the mountains towards Winthrop this weekend, any hints on how Lake Pearrygin is producing this year???

It's been filled with stockers for a couple years following a "rehab". I've always thought it was a nice place to fish. I haven't been there since the "rehab" but it only takes about a year to come back for trout.

I am really suprised how well some lakes fish do after a rehab. Kind of off topic but burke lake in quincy got killed off a few years back. There was a 6lber caught there this year and we caught a bunch of 2lber on memorial weekend. So hopefully its the same case for Pearrygin

I fish Burk Quincy and Dusty a lot. They rehab them in the fall and they plant shortly after. It happens every few years. Someone (being PC) seems to like to introduce panfish into the lakes and they take over. Quincy was done two years ago and this year on opening it was still mostly covered with ice. Limited on 14 to 16 inchers.
Shshshsh some of the seeps around there have big trout and if you sneak up with a fly rod........ Some of the holes are only ten feet across but the water just shoots out of the ground into them and then disapears.

bodofish, do you know what kind of fish they have been planting in Dusty? I thought I heard that they plant triploids. But either way there are already some HUGE fish in that lake. Iv seen them caught and seen them swimming around and jumping. Did they plant some big boys too? Because if not those trips grow fast, I have seen plenty of 5 - 6 Lbers in there

When they last rehabed the lake 3 or 4 years ago they went real light. The lake is fed from and underground spring (seep). The State biologist told us the big Browns and Bows hang by the spring and made it through. There are some Biiiiggg ones down there. Selective rules and 1 fish per day. C&R is best, take a camera.
Be ready to share the trail with the snakes after dark. Best is the evening bite.
I don't know about tripps but they dump a bunch of the regular stock in every year, they've been getting bigger every year.

Thats very interesting. Do you know where the spring is at? Yeah I made the hike down there at dusk in the early spring. Pitch black on the way back, we saw a porcupine, that was enough to scare me. Usually we have a snake charmer just in case. I wasnt too worried about snakes that time of year, but its about that time to load her up. I learned my lesson keeping fish from there. The one time I kept my fish there was 4 of us down there, I caught my fish in the first 1/2 hour. Well........ we stayed down there for 5 hours. Talk about a fun 4 hours for me. I made a spear, went on a hike, caught a frog, organized the tackle box but no fishing LOL

I've kicked my tube all over the lake and couldn't tell ya. I just work my way around. In the evening little bugs seem to work. In the middle of the day when the grass hoppers are boinging around, atomic ants or what ever they call them...... I'm a hack fly fisherman but I love it. If I can sit in the tube I'm OK. I can't stand in the streams anymore. Caught some dandies down there.
