Hi, I will be camping Memorial Day near Rufus Woods and was wondering what people know about the Kokanee fishing here, I see only trout reports. Is there a specific location that works best or do I have to hunt them down. I am familiar with fishing for Kokes in Lk Stevens, are the gear and techniques similar?

Ive never heard of Kokanee in R.W. but if you want to hit Chelan or Palmer Lake, those two both have excellent Kokanee populations.

It used to be an okay kokanee fishery 15-20 years ago, in fact, biggest kokanee I ever saw came out of there. It was around 5lb, awesome fish caught by a friend. It has been a long time since I pulled one out, usually fish it 6-7 times a summer. What we caught them on were homemade spinners tipped with maggots and shoe-peg corn.

Thanks for the responses guys. WDFW says it has Kokanee, but never saw any reports on them, must be a dwindling population. Guess I'll just have to get some lunker rainbows.

Why catch bait when you can catch huge trout? :-k
