What to look for when targeting Kokes

I recently purchased a Humminbird 597ci Combo fish finder in hopes it would help me find more fish. The problem is, I'm not finding them.
My questions are
-what am I looking for on my fish finder?
-I think all of the fish are near the top, would that make them harder to find due to the sonar looking down?
-I also show a lot of clutter in the top 25-30' in Lk Stevens, is that just surface clutter or lots of algae and stuff clouding up the water. It makes it hard to identify fish there.
-Also I spot a few areas with what looks like heavy structure north of the arraitor, and a couple just southeast of it. Can anyone tell me what these are? At first I thought they were schools of fish, but realized they are in the exact same location everytime I pass over.
-I am also having trouble loading GPS Hotspots to my SD card. HummingbirdPC spits out an error when trying to add them, even though it is .gpx format just like the file created from my waypoints.
Anyone have any advice or suggestions?
Thanks to anyone who helps.
