Does anyone know about Methow River in Eastern WA? Nobody has listed any reports. Do fish thrive there?

Fished it and punished it for 35 years along with the Wenatchee when the W was open Loved both.

Had 3 or 4 of my best days ever on 15 steelhead days and you want the pictures WE have them:-$ :chef:

Very sticky floats, flies and very light drift gear a monster metal is low teens most 5-8lbers and I have hooked and landed many over sized Kings as well fishing metal.
Over the years in the late 80's and 90's I brought 50 plus anglers on many many trips to these great little rivers and the beauty/nature is awesome .

Okanogan river another option as well:compress:

It's a tightly regulated river now as the number of returning fish are way down. It used to be that one would hunt for deer and fish for salmon and steelhead all in the same trip to the Methow Valley. Those days are no more. Last season you could chase and keep whitefish but you needed to release all steelhead you hooked and under no circumstances appear to be targeting salmon. As the new regs come out for this season have a look to see when it opens. My guess it will be the same as last season and if enough fish return they would post an emergency rule to extend the season and allow retention much like they do with the Icicle and Wenatchee rivers.

Thanks for the input Guys. After seeing no reports I was afraid it smelled like sulfur and had floaters in it. My faith has been restored.http://2ni2.com/emoticon/animal/pez.gif ... s/fish.gif

Wenatchee 7-12 fish was the norm 19 was are best:cheers: Methow 4-5 day in and out!

All 3 systems stacked with white fish and some nice oversized trout as well I had to go to (emotional rehab):dwarf: when they closed the Wentachee:-#
Funny thing that day before they closed it for lack of fish we had a 12 fish metalhead day smack in the orchard hole:-$

Sure is:-$ post them up  averaged 35 plus steelhead each season 1 river hook ups from her from over 8 straight years and my cousin 30 plus in just under 2 months each year.

We were the number 1 Cleaners:cyclopsan :dwarf:

In the willie drift boat we would hook 4 or 5 in a single mile just free drifting candycane corkies and pink and Chartruse yarn with red barbless Gamas

Most trips we just bank it as it was sooooo easy.

It got to be not when we would hook up but how many a hour:chef: in a single drift in the Orchard hole:colors:

My best in the Wenatchee a tad over 18lbs unheard of in these waters and hooked and landed many massive Kings chasing metal!
We had the best hole on the entire river for holding numbers of fish structure, head, rapids, real long tail outs and they held deeper due to colder Temps

When it closed for several years fishing Rehab knew every farmer, Eatery and more and open the eyes on 25 plus anglers on mass hooking metal every trip but 3 due to high off waters.

She still has fish but a shell from are glory days I will never forget one of my Fav Eastern wa systems and the hundreds of fish and trips she blessed up.

One better East the Klickitat:cyclopsan :-$ :chef:

THE 1st PICTURE IS DEAD ON KILLER (HEAD) STEELHEAD WATER RIGHT OFF THE FASTER SEAM MEETING THE HOLDING SLOWER WATERS LANDED OVER 50 IN THIS HOLE ALONE and right below shallow faster white waters and a tight narrow seam they must make:-$

I've caught a couple steelhead in the river, never anything very big, most of the the steelhead I've caught have actually been accidental fish when fishing for trout in early fall. If your looking to fish the river for trout, I highly reccomend it. Great fishing with some monster Cutthroat and a few big rainbows aswell. All the fish are very nice in that river. I rarely catch any dinks. Swung Muddler Minnows, Wooly Buggers, Marbou Muddlers in #6 or #8, Large Dries like Bugmeisters, Stimulators, Chenobyl's, Daves' and Bullet-Head Hoppers, and in October sometimes you'll get October Caddis hatches, but those are rare. Nymphing can be OK, Princes, Copper Johns, Large Stones, and Egg Patterns (during and after the King run) work well. Just be prepared to catch alot of Whitefish.
