Did you look at page 14? It is all open as normal. Main stem, forks are on the normal opening schedule and normal limits. Same goes for Whatcom Creek, Dakota Creek, Samish River. I expect the Samish will be an absolute nightmare this year.

So exactly how are non-native commercial and sports fishers supposed to harvest 1/2 of the available fish with this plan? It is interesting to note that the terminal areas in Puget Sound are open for slaughter to treaty fishing with the commercial and sports folks mostly left to watch the carnage.

One other thing I just can't wrap my head around, why have a catch and release season in the Sound at all? I mean, the State counts any salmon encountered, by a recreational fisher, as a dead fish. Either the fish is counted as dead and should be kept or it is released alive and should not count towards the quota.

I feel for the folks who like to target the warm water species in the effected areas. Really, when is the last time you heard someone who was after bass, perch, crappie and the like, tie into a salmon? How many clubs will have to cancel their tournaments because of this "agreement?"

I was happy checking out the various fishing reports until I got on this thread.

I can't help but feel a lot of people think the Tribes are part of the endangered species to be protected. And it's true that their culture is endangered or even should be viewed as lost a long time ago. Whites treated them real bad.

However, all of us have ancestors who were conquered, enslaved, mistreated, lost our homelands, etc. There has to come a time when the tribes get over it and assimilate just like our ancestors did. It's kind of horrible, but that is life and how humans have treated each other for eons. Shoot, the whole Roman Empire was nothing but land grabs, wealth theft and enslavement.

I just read the parts regarding lake Washington and Sammamish but I didn't see if it was open to fish for trout in them?

Well now, since Coho's, Kings and Sockeyes will bite on the same things you drag around for Trout i'm going to have to say, they'll probably keep them locked up tighter than a Bulls @ss in fly season. All three run up the Cedar and Issy Creek.

It sucks that the tribes are still pillaging the resource. Something needs to be done to curb their destruction. Not saying the commercial guys are any better...because theyre not. But no one should be killing any coho for a few years... Its bs the natives will continue on in the face of what has happened. R.I.P. washington state fisheries. The salmon are doomed with this current state of affairs. I couldnt give a damn about preserving man-made "native culture" (an illusion with no real value imo), id much rather preserve native salmon runs.

Shouldn't the natives just buck up and become American citizens just like the rest of us? I mean preserving heritage is one thing that I do believe we should all do, but this is the 21'st century and things are not the way they were in 74 or before... sign of the times is things change everyday, and these folks are hell bent on a tradition that's no longer conservative or the same in the early 19th century....

if you read in the regulations there are natives that are not fishing for anything this year...
