Green River Water Levels

My Son and I were planning to hit Metzler Park on the Green River, in hopes of some eager Chum Salmon tomorrow afternoon. I have never fished the Green River before. Will this section of the river typically be blown out or flooded when we get a storm like this? Do I need a Discover Pass to park at Metzler Park or will my WDFW vehicle permit work? Thank you!

It's a county park, so no parking pass required. There will be two major forks in the trail. Take the left one each time, and you'll get to the main area. I've never tried going right, so I can't comment on where those will take you.

I wouldn't go right. You have to cross a side channel that gets pretty deep with lots of big floating logs. Very sketchy. I crossed it last year and told myself I wouldn't do it again.
Another place to try if Metzler is too crowded is Flaming Geyser by the rc airplane field. You'll need a discover pass to park there.

Pretty much all the typical holes are and has been completed flooded out from Auburn to Flaming Geyser. There are spots closer to the Duwamish/Green juncture that you can try and maybe one or two spots in Auburn that might be worth trying from what I have seen but overall the river is extremely murky, fast and for the most part unsafe in all of the typical areas. Be very careful as the popular places like Metzler are completely flooded out and you're probably more likely to die out there than to catch a fish. Hence why there only 1% of the typical fishing crowd is out there fishing right now and most of people I've seen fishing are taking some huge risks out there.
Safety first out there.

You don't need any type of pass or permit to park at Metzler. That being said you won't even get to the typical fishing spots at Metzler because the water was so high. I met up with some new people who said that they could get to the fishing spots in boots and so took a look myself. The "fishing spots" they had originally assumed that we fished from was a originally a pittance of a creek that now has become a small river because of the flooding. The actual river was still a quarter of mile away. It's way too dangerous at Metzler right now with sudden dropoffs. Some elderly people whom I talked to said that this is the first time they've seen this extent of flooding on the Green River. So please don't fish Metzler for your own safety.
