Best Casting reel for drift fishing $100-200 range?

Post by Bmastro777 » Sun Sep 14, 2014 7:07 pm

What do you guys use for casting reels for drift fishing? I want something with a really good drag system and I'm not sure where to start. Thoughts?

My fav is a citica e. About 140$ and tough as nails. Casts a mile, really like the shimano casting brake system.

Seems most guys I see are using the round casting reels and not the traditional smaller bass reel?

The low profile baitcasters are nice to fish with all day. Less strain on your hand and thumb after hours and hours of casting. The daiwa lexa 300 are nice. Thats what I use and thoroughly enjoy it. Shimano curados are decent too.

The newest line of Curado is a great reel. Love mine. Spent hours drift fishing on the Cowlitz with it. No problems.Plenty of drag to deal with steelhead in current!!!
