Hump ???s
I see in the regs that the Hump opens Sept 1st. Will there be any fish around?? Also has anyone been fishing the grays harbor "north bay"?? That opened Aug 16. Thanx for the help.

Re: Hump ???s
Based on how developed the eggs were in the chinook we caught this weekend out of Westport, I'm going to say probably. Those fish were primed and ready to go, the coho, not so much.
Re: Hump ???s
mmmmmmm...not so sure...It's flowing at 177 cf/s...until we get a hard rain, and I mean it needs to dump, the bite will be very tough on that river.
Re: Hump ???s
There may be a few fish here and there...but whether they are going to be willing biters in such low water is a whole other issue.
At 177 cf/s, it's basically a trickling stream right now.

What if you fished down at the mouth where its strictly tide water? Theres a boatlaunch off of SR 109.

I agree with Jerry...that's how I learned the Hump. Went out with a guy on my first trip and explored from there. Lots of good water to cover...but I stick to my guns, the bite is dang tough in low water conditions.
But yes, get out there and try. Ya never know.

No fish in the Hump, better stay home. Cowlitz is on fire! Kings don't show up until december, silver until february. Get the word out yo... No fish in the hump!
Re: Hump ???s
I've heard there are jacks milling around...that's worth the drive, right?

Re: Hump ???s
IMHO- Not only is the level of water an issue, the temperature is too high. The fish are uncomfortable at these temps and therefore sluggish. I'd look at the mouth of the Hump. See if the fish are stacking up there in the cooler water and waiting for rain. Fish are probably stacking near the bottom in deep water.
Re: Hump ???s
Well temp dropped and the rains are here. Monday should be good. Hump probably not but very soon
