September Chrome

I have been blessed with the opportunity to spend A LOT of time on the rivers the last few weeks, and it has been paying off quite nicely! Been picking up a few early Silvers on the Stilly system by pitching spoons and spinners into slow moving pocket water. A lot of the fish have been small, like 3-4 pounds small but the other day I got a real nice buck that didn't even fit in the cooler. Watch him follow the spinner out of his hiding spot. Casted in the same spot and boom! Of course the Humpies have been plentiful and at times a bit annoying. It doesn't seem to matter what lure is on the end of your line, if its in the water there will be a Hump on the end of your line. With the rains a few fresh Pinks are still trickling into the lower river, although its almost October, which means targeting Coho and drooling of the upcoming Winter Steelhead.

I just bought 4 sst-s-862m which is this 8'6" med and i really like them. I dont know if i would go much light then that though. The extra foot would be nice for float fishing. As far as the strength, I have done the bass master fling with a humpie and it didnt snap

Where did u buy them? I see them on ebay for $85 after shipping. Id use the 9.6" for float fishing, might pick up a 8.6" casting rod for spoons too. Those are all great fish btw! I have yet to catch one on the sky :( so I might try the Green next...

As of 2/25/13, WDFW predicts a return of 3066 hatchey and 33100 wild coho to the Stilly. What ever the actual counts are who knows. But they are hatchery in there.

Thanks. Wonder where the hatchery is? Fortson or off Harvey creek maybe. I fished the stilly for years and never heard of hatchery coho there

I'm not 100% sure on this but it could be a wondering coho from another river that decided randomly to go up the stilly with the school of fish it was traveling with, I've heard of that happening before.

Ill do some digging but I thought the ESSC started a hatchery on the North fork of the Stilly but could be wrong. I do know they took over one a few years ago and started running it. Ill ask the powers to be and get back to you.
