I went to the Wallace last night after work as I live in Gold Bar. The river was up about two feet from the last time I was there on the opener. On my second cast with bobber and jig loaded with Coho eggs cured with borax, brown sugar and salt, I was done with my float and went to retrieve and BAM, there was a fish! This fish fought a little and then swam up river parallel to my position and jumped. I thought at that time it was a bright Coho Hen, a large bright Coho hen. This fish fought well and I let it as I have 10 LB main line with 8 LB leader which I don’t like but was setup for low clear water. After several laps around the pool this fish was landed with the help of two other fishermen who grabbed the fish once I got her in close enough. This was a large native Steelhead Hen, bright with just a touch of color. The fish was unhooked and released. I left home in such a hurry I forgot my cell in my work stuff so no picture, I also forgot half my gear and did have leader or glasses to see to tie on again
...............so much for being in a hurry. I saw another topic: “senior moments" maybe I should be posting there. One of the other fishermen had caught two hatchery Steelhead that were also nice looking fish although not near as big as the one I caught.

I was gonna play hooky today and see how the sky and wallace were shaping up, had to stay home with my boy on tuesday though because he was sick, cancelled out my hooky fishing day.. :(.. I did take that day to go get some new waders and fix the winch on my boat trailer at least.. ready to put both to use!

Went on Tuesday , it was high and colored but was dropping fast and had maybe 1ft of visibility but coho are in... Stood next to the intake just to see if fish were coming up and saw 30 coho and 5 kings shoot up the pipe in 5 min... Hiked down to Sherman hole and hit 1 tinted coho and a 6-7 lb steelhead in 30 min, nothing after that and it started raining again so I headed home...... Be interesting to see it this weekend if it doesn't blow out again

So as I was reading...You basically just pull up to the hatchery park in the parking lot and go east from there till you find a bridge with a WDFW sign and walk across and keep going east until the public fishing sign?
