You would plunk it with a pyramid weight and let it do it's thing in the channel. You can find diagrams of a plunking setup on google if you haven't set it up before.AJFishdude wrote:Thanks for the info mizm05. That is about what I thought. For a Kwikfish from shore, do you just cast it out, let it swing through the current and then bring it back?

I'll be plunking also. I'll have spin n glo with eggs or shrimp. By mid day I'll use a slider like a hot-shot.5-6 oz of lead.

Re: Spring Chinook
On most Columbia bars the guys use a slider with a wrapped Kwikfish on a 4-6 foot tag line. Just cast out and then hook the Kwikfish on the main line and let it slide down to the belly in the line. Some guys have even quit fishing the spin n glo and just cast out a bare 8 oz pyramid and then slide the Kfish down. 30 pound main and tag line is the norm, usually braid on the main line. Springers often run pretty close to the bank. Most of the time, fish the outgoing tide. On the incoming there is usually not enuff current to work the gear. Use enuff lead so your line doesnt tumble a lot, the more it drifts downstream the greater the likelihood of tangled gear not to mention you may drift into the guy below you. Most of those bars are mostly old guys that all know each other and a new guy that tangles other guys is not popular.

Watch it. I'm becoming one of those old guys.Barchaser has it spot on with the sliders. This week was nada. Next week we'll try again.I use eggs at the bottom. I use a corkie and toothpick so my slider will only go so far down and not tangle with my spin n glo.
