Legal Nisqually river fishing?

Post by miniopa15 » Sun Aug 16, 2009 7:46 pm

I was wondering where it is legal to fish on the Nisqually river because a couple of my buddies and myself went through yelm and into mckenna just past stewarts meats and saw what looked to be a good place to fish at the park, but we were unsure if we could fish there or not? Also I have heard by Redwind casino you can fish somewhere but you might need a pass from Fort lewis And in the fishing booklet it just states from the tank crossing and is confusing to me any info would help thank you!

Try down farther towards the mouth I don't think that it is open that far up. I live by yelm myself and know exactly the spot you are talking about, but the fish that are actually in the river are just starting to show up in the lower river try off of old pacific highway by the tank crossing and bridge and a little farther up river by the handicapped hole and the train tressel bridge. If that is any help to you?
Good Luck

Look on a map and find "Muck Creek" There is a one lane bridge a mile upriver. That's the tank bridge. By land, it will be the first paved and unmarked road you come to after leaving the reservation. It's like less than 1/2 a mile north of the reservation where the casino is.
