If your looking to get your hands on some salmon this afternoon, head down to Whatcom Creek. The chums are flooding up the river. Be aware of snaggers and crowded fishing, but you certainly can land some nice ones hooked in the mouth. I landed 7 total this morning and only two were snagged. If they still have some silver on them, they will smoke up nice!

The unwritten rule for chum is if the belly is white, its alright, if the belly is gray, maybe nay. If the belly is black put it back. Its a good guideline to figure out which fish should be kept or released.

Depends on what fish you want to target. lake fish? river fishing? anyways yeah Whatcom creek is great for catching chum for the next dew weeks or so if you can deal with crowds. Its combat fishing to the extreme. I recommend it to people with patience, its a lot of fun.

Ya know I still have yet to see that happen. Most folks that i see chucking them 2-3oz weights i pull aside and say hey, you really do not need that much weight, that's why you keep snagging the fish and not getting a mouth set... I have gone thru 50+ cannon ball weights after handing a few out here and there.. ( i get premium lead for free so i make tons...)

Stop by Yeager's and ask one of the guys around the fishing department. For the north fork the rest of the year you will find some chum and dolly varden. Maybe grab a couple blue fox spinners or some eggs to float!

Should be at the wall tomorrow as well, if your on the north fork your not far from me up here in Kendall..... I'm a nooksack junkie but the runs have been awful this year as the rivers been so blown out and dirty... Haven't spent all that much time on it this year, been running rivers closer to seattle and everett....
