Oh sorry about that, it's always a rude surprise! Better get out the aquaseal or the loon UV cure. You should keep a tube of the loon in your fish pack or bag. Find the leak and smear it in good and put it in the sun or hit it with the uv flashlight and you're back in the river. It only takes a couple minutes to dry.

Hahaha, there ya go if you can swing a new pair, it's always great!!!! If you know about were the leak is, fill them with air and roll the top down sealing them and squeeze till you see the bubbles. Run a wet sponge over the approximate spot and you should see bubbles come from the leak. If they're breathable, turn them inside out and hit all the seams with a iron set on low. Might be an easy fix.

Where in the greater Everett/Monroe area can I try on waders and buy them?

Just about any sporting goods store. Freddy's, Johns, Three dogs and a mule, Dougs maybe in Woodinville. And I think there's a fly store in Monroe. Pacific fly fishers, Mill Creek, Avid angler Lake Forest Park, Orvis Bellevue, Just Bing / google up some sporting goods stores and start phoning........

Spent most of the day on the river from the lower sky up to the wallace all the way to the hatchery, didn't see many rolling at all like they were last week, hopefully there are more to come.

I didnt see many roll last week either. Like I said before this run might be over unless the b-run shows up strong. The hatchery is holding most of the fish with a lot of them dying in the tanks before they get to spawn. Seen it myself. There were cleaning out all the dead fish and most of them had eggs or sperm spewing out their bellies. Not good at all. I know I've said this before but they should have opened it the beginning of Oct as the first week of Oct looked to be prime to be up on the sky or wallace. Timing these coho can be difficult but in my experiences they will shoot straight up to hatchery after the first big rain and we had solid rainfall at the beginning of Oct. Not every year is like that as I've seen them hold out in the snohomish until the end of oct but once again it all has to do with water levels and rainfall with these guys

Hi Guys,

Total Salmon/Steelhead noob here. I've lived in Seattle all my life and have always been a fan of fishing, although being a city dweller most of my experience has just come from local lakes and what not. I finally have more time to get out and start exploring all the awesome river systems around here and thought i'd join the forum to learn from all you seasoned anglers. Now.. Obviously, I am not expecting anyone to give away any secrets or anything like that just hoping to get some advice as my Friend and I are looking to test out these rivers next Friday. We're not mouth-breathing, knuckle-dragging snaggers like some have posted about haha, we follow the guidelines and DO NOT SNAG or keep foul hooked fish, totally lame and destroys the fishery. From looking on the Forum it seems like Drift fishing and using spinners work well for these Coho, but like I said we're novices in this department... Anyways thank you all for your time, I hope you are all having luck and enjoying these fall days in the PNW. Any advice for a couple local yokels who want to learn this sport right way would be greatly appreciated.

Fishing lakes is how I started as well and it definitely helps, especially if you bass fish (for accurate casting).
Theres a lot that could be explained but ill keep my 2 cents short. Read other reports on what rivers you want to try and see what people are using. You can search by time/species/etc on specific rivers on here under River Index which helps. Just scroll through and see whats been working this year and years past.
Spinners, drifting corkies/yarn or eggs, twitching jigs are always the go-tos for me. Sometimes itll take some time to get used to a river system and what lures/bait/colors work for particular runs.
Also, A lot of exploring and time helps you to find spots that are productive. Use google Satellite and go crazy, that's how I find many spots that aren't as public, but don't trespass haha. Ive had days where ill explore for half the day trying to find spots. Fishing under bridges on many rivers can be good since many times bridges are over deep salmon holes (in my experience).
Also never hurts to go to a local fishing store and ask whats working and where. Outdoor Emporium is a great store in Seattle.
Good luck and don't get discouraged if you don't have much success right off the bat, hell even people who know what theyre doing get skunked often.

Thanks for the tips Fisherman92, I appreciate it... And yeah honestly we're just excited to have a day off free from our respective ladies and just be outside, enjoying nature haha. I have been trying to find a good store since most of the gear in the city comes from Fred Meyer, Big 5 etc.. Which are pretty limited. Sounds like were on the right path, and will follow your sagely advice. Good luck out there guys! Will let y'all know how it turns out !

@FrostyAusty - if you are looking for other places for gear outside of Big5/Fred Meyer, and live in/near Seattle, check out Outdoor Emporium (aka Sportco - next to Filson's downtown) and Ted's Sports Center (in Lynnwood). Both are dedicated fishing/hunting/sporting stores. I would also do some research at the website Salmon University - lot's of good info there.
