Haven't been on the site for a while...Have been noticing a fair amount of reports for Rattlesnake Lake. Thinking about making the drive there for a hike and cool down with some fly fishing afterwards. My only question is what kind of flies would anyone suggest for a floating line set up? Is it reasonable to fish from the shore or would I have to bring waders?

If there is anyway to pack in a float tube or some sort of inflatable, I would go with that. From my experience, the lake is very hard to fish from shore especially if you're fly fishing. As for flies go, I always have luck with a weighted olive woolly bugger or bunny leech fished with a 9-12 foot fluorcarbon leader. If you're floating the lake, fish the shoals and give it a real slow troll or slow 6-inch strip. If that doesn't work, try damselflies or chironomids until you find something that works. Remember, the lake is C&R only and selective gear.
