Hey has anyone hit the Banks since the cooler weather? Just going up there Friday-Sunday and looking for some info about the bite. I will look for smallies and possibly walleye depending. Wally's hasn't updated the report in quite some time. I will be up on the north end nowhere near Steamboat... Any info is appreciated.

Good wkend to be on banks , They are hosting the annual Jamboree and it s a great event for the wkend bass angler ..

As for the smallies , look for the flats and then look for the beds ..Dropshot a WCCT moneyshot in white and you will have plenty oppertunnity to set the hook through out the day ..
My second bait of choice would be a 1/2 spinnerbait in white and few strings of chartruse , Run that bait just below the surface as soon as it hits the water , most of the bites will take place in the first few turns of your reel handle so keep your rod in a good position for a great hook set ..
My Last tip for ya is stay safe and respect the wind factor from that lake because once it kicks up things can get a little crazy out there ...:salut:

We were able to get into some walleye just a few weeks ago there. Smallies and largies were a little slow.

For the Walleye, VERY slowly troll a worm rigged on a 1' leader, and a 1' leader down to some weight. That got us into a few, just near shallow flats across from steamboat.

Hey thanks for the info. With all of the rain and colder weather this last week, I'm just concerned about activity. It's quite a drive for us to catch some fish. It's always been worth it in the past, I just hope that this hasn't turned them off. We'll probably battle some weather when we're there this weekend, but I'm sure if we can find the depth the fish are holding at we'll be ok. Thanks for all of the replies.

I will be coming up June 2nd, and the weather doesnt look so good then either. At least if the bass arent hot, we always have Walleye or even Rainbows.

When I was last there, water melon red flake, grubs and cut tail worms, were good with a one and half foot leader on carolina. I would litterly slap it against a flat wall and let it slide down and wham! Also a wacky rigged 3in sinko deliviers everytime when the fish were shutting down. GOOD LUCK!

I'm am taking my family out to Banks Lake next week for 5 days of fishing and I was wondering what the bugs are like out there. Are there mosquito's or any other bug out during the day/night? If so what is the best way to prevent the local pests while fishing?

Also, what kinds of live bait should I have if I am targeting Walleye? Nightcrawlers are a must for me always, but should I get minnows, crawdad's or any other type of live bait?

Any information would be great!
