Northwest Fishing Reports

Went out on tapps wednesday. Water temp was around 47. Hit two smalleys in around 27feet of water both were right around the two pound mark. I usually have a back seat open if anyone is interested. Are there any other lakes that are producing many fish?

Hey, BassTracker16. I read on another website today that "when the frogs start croaking, the smallies start biting." I do not specifically target bass (SM or LM) very often, but do you think there is any truth in this wives tale?

I don't think it is really accurate. I have caught smallmouth in the middle of winter. you definetly do get alot more action when the weather worms up and the frogs start croaking though.

Tapps has been showing alot of life recently.I caught 2 smallies about 2 weeks ago(just before we got hit with snow) and then friday afternoon spotted a muskie in about 4 feet of water. If weather is semi-decent,I will hit it up today. Hopefully get some nice pics.

Hit the same spots as usual. No takers but smallies have pushed back off the shorline(about 20 yards)Saw other boats with fish finders all working the same area,they were seeing the same thing as I was. Just need about 3-5 days of warming and they should be right back where they were before,less then 10 yards out.

Awesome. I checked out Tapps for the first time, actually scouting it out, but unfortunately I didn't see any viable options from the shore. It looks like a great place to fish and I heard the smallies rock.

Did you try the North Tapps Park? You can PM if you want some info. There's also Dike12 outside the park,this has been a big producer for smallies and tigers. Now that I put that out there..(Everyone else stay away)haha#-o

I fished Tapps off shore, about 3 years ago. The Main Park was still open but they were doing construction I think so the traffic was down. I could see carp all over the shoreline. Got a few smallies off shore, nothing over 14 inches.
Not sure what park it was, but was one of the biggest ??

I love fishing this place. It has trout,tigers,crappie and more but I think the best thing about it is the smallie action. Maybe not world class but in my opinion it has to be one of the best SMB action in the northwest.
Everytime I'm on the water here,I feel like it my be my last. This lake gets crowded fast and then add careless boaters. This lake is overdue for a serious tragedy. Anyone heading out here,you'll have a great time. Just be observant.
