we went out today for smallies using drop shot off the docks. Picked up a nice 3 pound large mouth. Is that usual picking up LMB under docks? We are new to bass fishing and we thought LMB were exclusively in the weedier part of lake. We were actually after small mouth. Is it too late in the season with water temperatures up to fish off the docks for SMB? Should be be drop shotting in 15 feet of water and deeper? What is a typical size SMB in Sammamish? What is a large SMB.
a rookie SMB anger but addicted.
I took my 3 boys out there today and had a blast.
My 13 year old schooled me by picking up the 3lb LMB. Go figure.
Drop shot with 3-4 inch plastics we heard work best in Sammamish, is that true?

Hey docks are great for LMB, it's cover for them. Best docks I've found are the ones that have a bunch of weeds growing out of them from lack of use.

Larger bass tend to be territorial... anytime there is decent cover or structure you can be certain to find one nearby- at least this is what the pro's tell us on TV. I've always had my best luck fishing where near a stump/downed tree or dock (shelter) with weeds nearby (food.)

Docks Rule Dude ! i have mastered fishing docks since iv been here .. all of my Big bass have came from docks , once you learn to skipp cast under those docks its a new ball game ....its funny because when i use to fish from shore all the guys would talk about those big bass that live under the docks and try to take there trout ... so i kept that in mind and thats been my claim to fame this year so far !! ..BBD :compress:
