Northwest Fishing Reports

Hey everyone,

I'll be at Green Lake this next week, traveling through the area. I'm interested in fishing for bass, and general tips?

I do a little carp fishing on the side, I've heard Green has loads of carp, anywhere I should focus on in the lake? Thanks!

Bass fishing sucks at Green Lake; however there are a few large ones that hang out by any of the docks when the hatchery trout are running around, and there are tiny ones that people catch with kastmasters in later summer. Carp fishing can be done in the late evenings at the dock se of the lake where they rent canoes. I've seen them caught using corn.

I've seen tons of carp by the lilly pads, but it'd be tough to drag one of those things.

If searching for bass, try fishing Bitter Lake, it's a lot smaller and holds some nice bass.

Thanks for the info. I just looked up Bitter, looks nice, not too far away from my locale. How is the bank access? From Google Maps, it looked like much of the shore is private, and I'm bank-bound for the day.

Alternatively, I noticed the Gas Works Park is nearby too, and I've heard you can get smallies from the shore. If you only had a few hours (2-3hours) to fish, which would you recommend?

You can catch some off shore, but a float tube is ideal.

There's a couple guys on here who fishes the local lakes up there, I use to live there but moved to the east side of Seattle.

There's sm bass in the cut in Fremont but it's been slow for me last couple days. I went over to gasworks to check it out and after casting a few times I noticed a sign that said No Fishing so I left.

I fished Green Lake today and ended up with 6 "rock bass" and two sculpin, plus a lot of missed strikes, and one HUGE fish that ripped drag, fought like a largemouth, and spit the hook. All caught on plastics (Berkely Gulp).

Are these really rock bass? I've never caught one before, but they were all over the lake, really fun to catch and eager to bite. The first thing I thought was oh, cool, rock bass, but they look a little like black crappie too. Any hints?

Those are rock bass. I didn't know they were at Green Lake, there's a bunch at Bitter Lake.

In the Warm water enhancement topic, there is a link that shows WDFW planted Tiger musky in Green lake {king co} in 2000!!!
I'd be throwing some big buck tails!

Those Tigers have already died off and the state hasn't done a re plant

When fishing Green Lake dont forget your Geiger Counter.

On the 2009 stocking plan they discuss that fewer catfish remain and even fewer Tiger musky available but are there, and
quite large. This is from electro fishing the lake.

Biggest LMB running aroung 2-3 pounds. That's a nice catchable size for a city lake.
