Re: Pontoon boat anchor weight and style recommendations

I have a 4 sided 20 lb lead pyramid that holds my 10' steelheader in pretty decent flows. I got mine from a guy in marysville that pours all kinds of lead fishing related weights. He pops up on craigslist often in the fishing/sporting section. Can't remember his name or number though.

Re: Whitney to Soos creek drift?

Definitely did not miss the point of the discussion at all. I think that we obviously see eye to eye on some points but others we clearly don't. Just because someone doesn't see things your way does not mean that they missed the point. It is all based off of opinions and experience. No point in goin...

Re: Whitney to Soos creek drift?

Good Riddance! I bet it was mallard83, showing us how it's done. Nuck nuck nuck......you so funny.......If I fished that river at all I probably would have taken it out, but no it wasn't me. Instead of flipping the people that know how to deal with river hazards crap, you should be thanking them. T...

Re: Lost pole at metzler friday 11/29

I had a fly rod in a case come out of my bag while hiking down the river on the coast. Realized it had happened not ten minutes after, went back, and dudes behind us had taken it and run off. Every once in a while you'll find a nice person, but unfortunately, that really sucks. Don't worry, what co...

Re: Warning! Skykomish Car Prowlers

The worst part about all of these a-holes breaking into people's cars is that more often than not the damn window costs more to replace than what was taken.

Re: New Tradition - Chrome Friday

Floated the calawah from 101 to lyendecker on the bogi. REALLY slow. The calawah was a challenge all it's own for the simple fact that it was only running at about 360 cfs. Very difficult float at this level. I will have a couple videos uploaded when I get home at some point. The bottom was visible ...

Re: New Tradition - Chrome Friday

Nice steel gringo. Did it have a messed up beak or is it just the way the pic was taken? I'm sitting here in a cabin at three rivers resort in forks with the family waiting to float some local rivers. Conditions are less than ideal over here. LOW & GIN CLEAR........gonna try and pull something out t...

Re: plum access

Yes.............go all the way to the tolt access if you want to fish a ton of dead frog water and not be back before dark. There is another launch between fall city and carnation that would extend your float another hour or two but floating all the way to the mouth of the tolt is definitely not a d...

Re: plum access

It's been awhile since I have done that drift but as I remember it usually was a nice half day drift if we were working the water over pretty thoroughly. It can be a nice short afternoon float if you don't spend to long in each spot. There is some pretty nice side drifting water after the river bend...

Re: Whitney to Soos creek drift?

thanks for the rcw mike. my information comes from wdfw enforcement, and was on regard to a sled owner cutting trees out of the river to attain access upstream. mallard is likely right if one has the skills and know how. unfortunately i find chainsaws scary, heavy, and dangerous. then again I'm no ...

Re: Whitney to Soos creek drift?

Thanks for the info mike. It is always a fine line we as sportsman walk in this state regarding rules and regulations. If it is an impassable obstruction i will usually deal with the problem out of necessity but if there is a way around I just go on my way and just let the next high water blow it ou...

Re: Whitney to Soos creek drift?

Not grumpy at all. You guys are just over reacting over a minor sweeper. If you have actually fished the coast enough you come across these kind of sweepers regularly. You either deal with them in a portage kind of way (depending on flow) or you cut the damn thing out of your way. Just grow a pair a...

Re: Whitney to Soos creek drift?

I don't fish the green at all but it is an easy tree to take out. Stop being a bunch of --- and cut the river left side of the log and let the current deal with the rest. Obviously no one here has experience cutting river hazards out. I understand the legal crap, but it is a average sweeper at best....

Re: Store bought prawns or shrimp

I don't ever cure mine either. I get the 55 count bags (uncooked) and usually cut prawns in half or 3rds. Best to leave the soft shell on the prawn when using them because it has natural U/V. I love prawns, personally use em more than eggs.

There is never a true skunk when you get to spend time with your kids, especially fishing. Always fun to get them out and enjoy the simple things in life. Hopefully better luck next time.

Color is important but not near as important in how the lure is presented. Like brat bonker said read up on some books and articles and it will improve your success.

Re: Hardware for steelhead

As to when to toss such gear is a very subjective question. Depends on a lot of factors such as river, level, color, time of day and hole. I generally will toss other gear first such as drift gear or float rigs before the hardware as to not possibly spook any fish unless the hole I am fishing is mor...
