Re: North of Falcon Update
I should also put out there for everybody that the next/last public meeting for NOF is next Tuesday April 1st (I know) at the Lynnwood Embassy Suites. The importance of that meeting is that is where/when the Department will present updated model runs based upon the data scrubbing and run cut negotia...

Re: North of Falcon Update
I can think of several things that I would like to see discussed. Every time we advise WDFW to change steelhead regulations through the WDFW, they tell us to go to the NOF process. I'd like to see all native steelhead C&R. I'd like to see stiffer tribal negotiations out on the OP, get better number...

Re: North of Falcon Update
Hi Nate! What sorts of things are you looking for in fresh water??? Freshwater generally are not mixed stock fisheries, so it's only up to how the stocks are doing on that particular river... the issues that I know of on the rivers generally revolve around gear conflicts between recreational anglers...

North of Falcon Update
Hi All! Hope everybody is getting ready for Spring!!! The fisrt North of Falcon meeting took place today in Olympia. Here's some talking points from the day... There are some more regional meetings coming up... One in Mill Creek this Saturday which will probably focus on Central Sound issues. There ...

Re: Area 9 Summer Fishery
That's my main reason for asking here, is so I can represent folks when I go to the NOF meetings as a Salmon Advisor. Thanks for the input!
I'll scan the south sound charts and post them when I get a chance.

Re: Area 9 Summer Fishery
Thanks everybody! keep the ideas coming. We will probably discuss this a little bit at the Forecast meeting on March 3rd and I would expect much more at the first NOF meeting March 19th or the Mill Creek Meeting, which I think is the evening of March 22nd. Bay Wolf - I agree with your point, but als...

Area 9 Summer Fishery
Question for the Group... In the last couple of years, the summer Mark Selective fishery (MSF) for chinook in Area 9 has been smoking hot from the get go, mainly up at Port Townsend... This has burned through the guideline or quota of chinook encounters faster than planned and forced the Department ...

Re: Lake Chelan Jigging for Macks
Wow... Sorry to hear that, though I am sure the water was nice and you had a good trip!!! One thing to look for before you go back... If you can pick up a copy of Rick Graybill's Guide to fishing Lake Chelan... it's hard to find now as I don't think it is still in print, but Hooked on Toys in Wenatc...

Re: First time for Kokanee on Lake Chelan tomorrow 3/23
Colyar Ledge is a "new" landmark where the new state record laker was caught this year... It's above the Yacht Club... Rocky Point is on the North shore between Chelan and Manson... just down lake from the Mill Bay Boat launch... when you get on the lake and look at the North shore, you'll see it...

Re: Lake Chelan Jigging for Macks
Look for some of my old posts... Jigging works well on Mack Bar, which is straight out from the Mill Bay Boat Ramp. Also if you look at the guide reports from Chelan, most of the areas they hit can also be jigged if the current and wind cooperate. Put shrimp salt smelly jelly on your stuff... Good l...

Agree with Mike on Chelan. Most likely good weather that time of year. The kokes should still be going strong.

Re: Baker Lake Sockeye
UPDATE from NOF 1 - 3/15 in Olympia There will be further discussion at the meeting in Mill Creek this Saturday. Currently the Department is modelling this as a combo of lake and river fishery. If memory serves... Both fisheries drop from a 3 fish limit last year to a 2 fish limit this year. I think...

Re: Baker Lake Sockeye
Sorry Guys... was away for a bit... That is a good idea... We have to plan most of the fisheries based upon forecasts sice they happen below/before fish get to the trap.. so Swinomish and Upper Skagit fisheries for sure, and traditionally the river recreational fishery... But we could entertain not ...

Re: Baker Lake Sockeye
Thanks Everybody for the input! I think I have heard overwhelming support for the lake fishery and a desire for river as well, though lesser in support. I talked with the Department Bio on this and we have a thought I would like to float, and will probably officially propose at NOF1 this Friday in O...

Re: Baker Lake Sockeye
... I will fish it again this year for sure. If they let us. Not being alarmist, but I can't imagine the option of river only. That would remove the opportunity to fish for so many people. I just can't imagine not fishing the lake it is such a cash cow....camp fee launch fee.speed trap for the coun...

Baker Lake Sockeye
Learned about the outlook for this year's fishery at the Forecast meeting... I'll share that below then also have a couple of questions for everybody... Last year's run was very good and came in pretty close to the forecast of about 35K fish. The river fishery was very successful according to the De...

Re: Baker Lake Harsh Wardens
Continue to fish for salmon after the adult portion of the daily limit has been retained . If each of your 3 kids catch and retain one salmon apiece at Baker you are through for the day. YOU may not also catch and retain a limit! Hewesfisher - this doesn't refer to the fisherperson... it refers to ...

Toni - I had seen your report pictures with that dodger, so I took one to Chelan this year, and it caught most of my fish!
