RE:Mark Wells/ jerkbaits
Many of the fish Mark has caught have been taken on a jerkbait/glider that I built for him several years ago. The bait is about 6 inches long and is a wood version. For those not familiar with the action of a glider you can see a short video I did of one by going here: _M7bHWrpD0M Jed V. Bikini Bait...

I have only fished three................Silver, Curlew, and Merwin.
Merwin is beautiful, really nice, but after seeing pics of that monster fish caught this year in Curlew it is at the top of my list. Wow!

RE:Picture of winning Muskie at Curlew Tournament
I bought one a couple years ago and the lure is so flimsy I have been afraid to try it for musky. I have caught a bass or two on it.jigman wrote:13cm Savage gear lipped 4 play in Rainbow trout. Had a lot of follows on that lure tournament day, I believe I counted 8. Mike.

You know, maybe I missed something but I see very little bickering on this forum compared to the many others that I frequent.

I think you did a good job Don but with due respect I also find the knotless net idea a bit much. If an angler is lucky enough to hook a state record tiger on an artifical lure the type of net he/she uses should not disqualify them IMHO. Can you imagine? "Yea you caught a new state record but since ...

RE:A Campian to get a Size and Daily Limit on Northern Pike on the PO River
Well fortunately for this situation, we are trying to preserve the pike in any area that bass and pike are the main fishery. Seeing that this situation will have no effect on trout or salmon (until proven otherwise) I think we have a legitimate shot. Good point so long as fish managers don't think ...

That's really interesting................and to answer your question concerning vegetation, I would say yes there is a great deal of side habitat, particularly below Bonneville Dam. There are hundreds of side channel ponds below Bonny that are filled with willow, poplar, alder, and various other rip...

Don, I'm curious why you think pike won't spawn in the Columbia River. Are they spawning in the PO River? If they can spawn in the PO I would think the Columbia would be suitable for them also. Also, how did pike get into the PO? Were they introduced illegally? If so, you may be fighting an uphill b...

RE:1st Annual Pend Orielle River Pike Tournament
Why would you encourage anglers to release large fish but keep those under 28-30 inches?
Are there too many pike?
Just seems odd that you encourage the release of some fish and the killing of others. Little fish turn into big fish.

Yes it was, we hadn't been in the water 5 minutes when you hooked that fish. I hope we can do it again some time.

I'm curious what lures have proven successful for trolling.
Curlew is a long drive for everyone and that is why the fishing is still good.
I think I recognize one of those fish Mark.

Yes, you are lucky to be surrounded by all those wonderful lakes! I was raised in Walla Walla and my dad used to take me up to Sacheen lake, I loved it! I caught some very large brook trout in that lake as a kid and some huge perch too. I used to use perch gill to fish for both the trout and perch, ...

RE:Silver Lake, Spokane County.
I have only been to silver lake one time and fished the entire perimeter of the lake over a period of 3 days. The lake doesn't at all look like a trout fishery to me. Tons of weeds in coming in everywhere and that was a month ago, can only imagine what it looks like now. I also noticed a great numbe...

RE:Silver Lake, Spokane County.
Keep in mind that all lakes go in cycles. I have a lake near me in eastern Oregon that has literally a trillion bass, crappie, and perch in it. Some years the crappie will be quite large and then we will go through 3-5 years where they are all really small. I have always attributed the change in siz...
