RE:Trout in West Medical Lake taste weird?
Medical Lake The lake was used for medicinal purposes long ago. It was known for it's high mineral content. There used to be a electric train that ran from Spokane and vicinity to the lake. I don't remember the details but there are books in your local library on the history of Spokane and the lake....

RE:Getting Settled
Welcome to Washington! Lake Roosevelt is a good Walleye fishery. Newman, Liberty, Eloika, and Long Lakes are good for Bass. Newman has a few Tiger Muskies. Pend Oreille River is starting to get quite a few Pike, I hear. Fishtrap Lake will limit ya out by Noon for trout. Two marshmellows and a hunk o...

RE:Boatless in Spokane
Ok, I have a friend that fishes from the shore on the river in Spokane. I have yet to try it but he tells me that after the water level drops it's a good place to catch nice size trout on the down stream side of the rocks there. I was thinking about going there tommorrow after work to try it out. It...

Watch fishing programs on TV. I have learned about every rig from Bill Dance and Hank Parker. Check your local movie rental place too. Early Saturday mornings have a lot of shows on.

RE:Too many little bass
Where there are little ones there are big un's too. Slow down your retrieve, don't work your bait hardly at all, let it sit longer. Big bass are lazy, slower presentation sometimes is the best way to go. Try other baits. Try a buzzbait in the heat of the day over the deepest part of the water you ar...

RE:Anyone Ever Fished Mountain Meadows Lake East of Newport?
If it's the lake I'm thinking of...There is no real access there. There is a house on the South side of the Lake. I can't remember but there was something there that discouraged me to go to the house to ask to fish it. It's right next to a dirt road, probably would be easy to get a tube or canoe int...

I like to use Zataran's fish fry mix. I simply coat the fillets and toss 'em in the deepfryer. Then fry up a batch of hush puppies with jalapenos mixed in. Make your own tarter, kids like catsup, sometimes I use lemon or malt viniger. I also enjoy crappie prepared this way.

Very Cool. That's something I gotta do. The beauty is that most of us probably have the stuff to do it with on hand.

RE:whats your big bass story
I used to live about 10 min from Lake Ray Roberts in North Central TX. One cold January day in 1995 a friend and me were out on the lake in about 30' of water. I tied on a 3/4 oz. Stump Thumper spinnerdait with a big Colorado blade on it. I tossed it in the middle of a dead tree that had a lot of sm...

Sprague Camping and fishing
My wife and me were thinking about going out to Sprague Lake this weekend to do a little camping and fishing for the elusive Walleye. I would like to know where the best place to set up a camp is. We have a tent, and a boat to fish in. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. We have never been ther...

There were quite a few carp on the North end of Newman yesterday. We probably saw about 2 dozen or so. They were right on the bank in places.

RE:Release vs Keep
Native Texan here. WA is a wonderful place to live, I'll probably die here. In the south the bass population got really low back in the 70's. That's what brought on catch and release imho. I release 100% bass. If I want fish to eat I enjoy Walleye and Crappie. I really like catfish, not bullheads bu...
