Re: Cedar River
In my experience with the cedar, you have to hike at least a half mile away from any road. The spots that look good from the roads usually aren't. Last time I fished it, I had to hike a mile up river to get into any fish. Still worth it though! Oh and use small nymphs, size 16 or smaller.

I picked up the Cabelas RLS reel a while back and it has plenty of backing room! It'd be interesting to hook into something large there on an 8 weight

Cutts and pinks in the salt
3rd post for the day but I figure it's necessary. I know this has come up before but I'd like to bring it back up. What flies should be used for Sea-run cutts off the beaches? I know all the basics like clousers and some other baitfish patterns but I need more specifics. As we all know (and are extr...

Fly fishing in Colorado
I'm going to Denver on July 3-7 and I'm planning on fishing the "dream stream" section of the South Platte. What flies should I bring for that time? and is there anywhere else near Denver that I should try?

Re: Rattlesnake Lake
If there is anyway to pack in a float tube or some sort of inflatable, I would go with that. From my experience, the lake is very hard to fish from shore especially if you're fly fishing. As for flies go, I always have luck with a weighted olive woolly bugger or bunny leech fished with a 9-12 foot f...

Re: Yakima River
The only fish that you can keep in the upper river are brook trout (I've never seen one there) and whitefish when the season is right. Please do not keep anything else, the river is catch and release for a reason, it is a self-sustaining fishery and when people take the native trout, it destroys the...
