Re: Large spinnerbaits for tigers

Great replies guys. Some good info there! I am definitely moving toward the larger selections in my tackle boxes. I always start the spring off with smaller baits, like the Fudally Musky candy spin and 6" spring dawgs. But it's heating up out here quick, and I'm going to be tossing the standard 9" B...

Large spinnerbaits for tigers

Has anyone been experimenting with or have experience throwing large hair, or synthetic skirt, spinnerbaits for tigers? I have been toying with larger (over 1oz, over 6") spinnerbaits and I am liking the results so far. I don't care for the profile that baits like the funky chicken have in the water...

Re: East side tiger tournament, Spring 2016???

There were multiple signs posted by both musky clubs present at the Silver and Newman launches for quite a while; on the entrance sign, the big information board and on the fishing dock. The CMA signs were on the big main info board and the fishing dock. The Chap. #57 signs were all over the trees a...

Re: Early season go-to lures?

MH: these east side fish are a bit different. They seem to favor hot Italian over brats!
I totally agree on the quick strike set-up too.
I prefer a wedding ring to troll up the skis.

Re: Early season go-to lures?

Hey Kev; I'm a big spinnerbait guy too. My PB ski came off a white terminator years ago. I don't think I ever have a spinnerbait free day on the water. A guy I took to Newman was using my favorite yellow/silver musky candy spin and a 47" tiger turned it into an inline spinner in about 9 seconds. Sma...

Early season go-to lures?

Hello there fishing aficionados. What are the couple baits you can't leave the dock without while the water temps are still chilly and the water is pretty clear? I am always tossing a spring bulldawg. I love 'em. Another favorite is the J-Mac weedless jig with a monster twister tail or a boot tail p...

Hi Kevin;
It has been a while, hasn't it? You know how life keeps you guessing and all. The forum seems a bit thin these days. Isn't anyone catching tigers anymore?!? Time to break out the small black bucktails!

Re: East side tiger tournament, Spring 2016???

That's great! I just happen to be familiar with Silver Lake. Thank you.

I have to dust off the double-top secret spring time lure I use.

East side tiger tournament, Spring 2016???

Are there any plans for an East side tournament this spring? I'll break in the boat with some Chinook in April and make some time to crush a toothy tourney in May LOL. Chapter 60, what say you? Never too early to make plans after all. My only concern is how badly it will embarrass my old nemesis Mus...

RE:Tiger Muskies at night??

Newman has a night bite, but like Curlew, you need to know where the tigers are at when you go out. Go fish the spots where you've seen them during the day only shallower. Summer is the best bet on nights with little or no moon. I know that sounds like its wrong because you'd think they could see th...

RE:education

I should have posted this info some time ago, sorry. I contacted WFDW last month and made Mark (head bio guy) and Randy (tracking/diet study) aware of some situations very similar to the one Phil Cogley described. I asked them to provide aditional 50" signs to the two resorts on Silver. They promiss...

RE:Eastern Wa. Muskie lakes

I went out to Silver tonight and fished the North shore line for a few hours. I caught my first for the season, woohoo! A fat 34 incher. Saw another one that spooked away when I snuck up on him. I got a great picture of my finger (cell phone expert here) when he was at boat side, just before he gave...

RE:Eastern Wa. Muskie lakes

I've spent a few years fishing these striped, steriod perch of Eastern Washington. Here are a few things I've noticed during my time on the water: In April, the vast majority of tigers I have caught in Silver and Newman are still related to what will later become the deep weed edge. That is too say,...

RE:Has it finally happened?

mtsiview: I don't work Newman over very often anymore. The boating traffic on this small lake is rediculous and I can avoid the head ache by hitting Silver. On the other hand, Newman is a good night fishing lake because of it's heavy boat traffic. It also gets active very early in the season because...

RE:Has it finally happened?

This fishy came out of Newman Lake. I'm trying to track this lucky guy down to get his story. Maybe I can get him to post about it. Caught on a perch crankbait of the Rapala type. Looks pretty big to me; but 54 inches might be stretching the tape a bit. But that's just a better fish story is all....

RE:Our Babies Have Landed!

They release the tigers in the fall to help reduce the predation. Predatory fish like the tigers and bass are out in deeper water at this time of year. Predation by waterfoul is also much lower than in the earlier parts of the year. They do this with th trout up in Curlew too, works very well.

RE:Silver Lake, Spokane County.

WATER QUALITY. That is the major reason people who fished Newman aren't seeing the fish they have in years past. This lake is taking a major nose dive and the locals know it. There is alot of talk among them, they want the state to get involved in a clean-up effort. And the massive pressure this lak...

I'll see if I can dig up a picture of a 51 inch, 36 pounder from Hauser Lake, just across the Washington/Idaho boarder. Caught on a white Terminator spinnerbait, during the hot hot hot days of August.
