Might want to hold off on visiting Horseshoe lake for a bit. Looks like they've closed access anyway.

Re: Fishing by way of Yo-Yo
I'd say you could probably use one legally but there would be no point to it. You're not allowed to fish with gear that's not immediately in your control so you couldn't set it up and leave it which seems to be the whole point of these gadgets. Also you couldn't set up a half dozen of them because y...

Re: Shore fishing in the Strait of Juan de Fuca
Thanks Obryan214. I'm especially interested in flatfish from the strait. I think their population is healthy and they should be a lot cleaner than the ones further down in the sound. I never see much about shore fishing up there but I see a lot of shore between the Dungeness spit and Neah bay. There...

Shore fishing in the Strait of Juan de Fuca
Has anyone done any shore fishing up along the Strait? I wanted to explore up that way some this summer and wondered if anyone had beaten me to it. I was thinking of driving up there and fishing from the shore or wading using either light casting gear or surf gear. Any suggestions on where to go or ...

Re: Has Anyone Fished Wards Lake, Lakewood lately?
I swung by and took a look at it yesterday. Pretty little park but the pond is surrounded by a wide band of weeds and the open water was heavily occupied by ducks. There are a few angler spots but it's not the place I want to take a 3 year old for some uncomplicated bluegill harassing.

Lake Tapps To Be Drained This Fall
This may be common knowledge but it's the first I've heard of this: http://www.thenewstribune.com/2014/06/03/3224975/better-enjoy-lake-tapps-while.html?sp=/99/296/331/?storylink=fb" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; "Lake Tapps is full again, and will remain that way for the next several...

Re: CARP! The official 2014 carp thread
I believe we're talking about common carp. Grass carp on the other hand area protected species. You're right, they were introduced to control vegetation.

Re: CARP! The official 2014 carp thread
They're certainly invasive but I'm not sure how much damage they do and I'm not at all sure how much good I'd do just killing the few I might catch.

Re: CARP! The official 2014 carp thread
Strictly for sport as far as I'm concerned. I understand you CAN eat them but it's a lot of work for a little meat and then you have to ask yourself if you want to eat ANYTHING out of the water you caught them in.

Has Anyone Fished Wards Lake, Lakewood lately?
I was going to take some kids (3 and 6) there to chase sunfish for an hour or so Friday morning. I can't find any recent comments about it and wondered if everyone was avoiding it for some reason.
Thanks,
John

Re: Surf Perch
Nuts! I went out Thursday and got nothing for my trouble but dumped on my ass in the surf and one undersized dungeness crab. Didn't even get a single strike from a surfperch!

Found Knife in Ocean Shores
I was fishing the Oyhut Wildlife Recreational Area last week and I found a sheath knife up in the sand. It didn't look like it had been there very long. It's not a very expensive knife but it looks nice and I'd like ot get it back to it's owner if I could. I posted a couple of Craigslist ads here an...

Re: What's your favorite redtail surfperch rig?
Pile worms are not illegal. I personally spoke with Dan Ayres, He is the Lead Biologist for Coastal Shellfish in Region six. He told me that the words "Marine Worms" do not include Pileworms . I have a letter from him that he downloaded, http;//wdfw.wa.gov/fishing/shellfish/statewide_rules.html If ...

Re: What's your favorite redtail surfperch rig?
That's why I'm after surfperch. Low pressure, good numbers, and LOTS of empty beaches. I'm not allergic to people. But when it gets to be shoulder to shoulder I'm having about as much fun as if I was standing on an elevator. This spring and summer I get to take the girlfriend's grandkids (3 and 6) f...
