This is hands down the best "poor mans downrigger" techniques out there.

Ok...Ill be the voice of reason here.... Taking a 12' aluminum with only a 7.5hp motor on it out in the sound is not just unsafe, but insane! Especially during pink season when there will be 300 other boats out there tearing up the water. Fishing in the salt is nothing to play with. You capsize that...

Here is the opening day results of the opening for spearing lingcod...We were down about 90ft off of Gedney island. Visibility was only about 5' so it was a bit of a chore locating some fish, but we were successfull in getting these two guys.

Ill throw mine up. Charter fishing out of westport. 21 Halibut in 4 hours. 42 Ling in under 90 minutes! Insane fishing! The first pic is of my little bro. He pulled both of those lings up at once. One ling per hook!

We caught a few yesterday.... 42 to be exact. In less than an hour and a half... Amazing site. We even had a double hook up!

Not really. Most of them were in the high teens. Mine was 23#. There was one that was larger, but not by much. My ling was the boats larges weighing in at 28Lbs!!

Fished out of Westport yesterday...Beautiful day... sunshine...blue skys.. fairly calm seas.... ohhh yea.. and the fishing.... Limited the boat with halibut (20) in about 4 hours and then headed in for ling...Limited the boat in less than 1.5 hours...(42). Full pics and report to follow later today....

Heading out of Westport Sunday for the opener of Halibut season. Anybody else going to brave the weather? They are predicting an incredibly long season this year before the quota is met...6 days.
