Re: Newman Lake???
I meant to reply a couple days ago....just confirming that Newman Lake is, in fact, all open water.

Re: Newman Lake???
Hey Doug...Hauser turned to all open water last weekend, and last year they were pretty close so I'm assuming it is off Newman as well. I think I might try to take a little drive out there this morning to verify. I'll re-post if I do make it out there.

Re: Get out there and fish!!
Whether they are at home sulking about the POR or have hunting season fever I say keep it up! With only having a little aluminum boat to putter around the lake in, it sure is nice having calm waters as a result of no other boats out, lol! Joking aside, I don't get a chance to get out much myself, bu...

Re: Muskies in Spokane Co.? coming in from Texas
I'm sure they mean Hauser as Hayden does not have tigers. Hayden does has quite a few pike though. The last year they stocked Hauser was 2007 and they stocked only 1500 (approximately) between 2005, 2006, and 2007 combined. Bad news is there are not many left ...good news is the ones that are left a...

Re: Why isnt anyone musky fishin?
Well...made it out to Hauser for a couple hours. No tigers in the boat, but some stupid bass did hit my 9" Shallow Invader so ended up with a decent bass, lol. Didn't mess with measuring the girth, but a quick measurement on the board before getting her back in the water said 17.5".

Re: Why isnt anyone musky fishin?
Todd, I appreciate the encouragement to get out more, but It is far more gratifying to live vicariously through those that actually know how to catch them. :) Been out a couple times out here in Idaho at Hauser, but no luck. May actually try to get out today, but not sure if the lil 14' aluminum wit...

I was anticipating to waking up to photos of the pike tournament, but based on your post it sounds like it was pretty slow eh?
If nothing else, it was a beautiful day to be on the water!

Re: Muskie Lure Collection
Looking forward to hearing how the Pike tourney went today! Since making lures with the kids has been more fun than going out and getting skunked, I decided to make a lure with my 5 yr old boy today. He picked the colors and I threw it together. I think this may be my favorite yet. For context of si...

Re: Newman Lake
Will definitely have to make this year be the year. Not only is it wild if you happen to hook into a tiger at night... there is just something awesome about not having to deal with other people, boats, etc. while on the water at night.

Re: Muskie Lure Collection
Thanks Rosann...hope to get out at least for a couple hours on Monday and/or Tuesday as the weather is supposed to be really nice over here. That's great that you had heard of one tiger already being caught...hopefully the first of many for 2012!

That is sweet. Wasn't look forward to messing with launching without a dock at night time very much.

Re: Muskie Lure Collection
Yeh...the more I study these crazy fish, the more I buy into your blade theory as well. While I wish that my opinion was experiential, it is simply based on reading multitudes of information and trying to put 2 and 2 together. I'd be curious to hear if you have blade favorites in general or if you t...

Re: Muskie Lure Collection
Given the forecast of snow and rain again tomorrow, I thought I'd entertain myself by making some lures. I had some success last year with Shumway Funky Chicken's (Spinnerbait with saddle hackle feathers under marabou) so thought I'd make my own version in an inline spinner. My 9 yr old daughter and...

Re: Muskie Lure Collection
As there was some discussion regarding Musky Innovations and Tackle Industries, I thought I'd throw out a neutral perspective. I recently purchased a Tackle Industries Cowgirl Type Inline Spinner (called the Dominatrix ... 10" with flashabou and Mag #10 blades like the Cowgirl). At the same time, I ...

Re: Night Muskie
Yo Mark...I'm looking forward to it as well. I still laugh every time I drive by the spot where that dude soiled his shorts when that big ole bass hammered his topwater inches from shore. I'll look forward to hopefully getting out with Doug as well. I splurged and bought an Annual Washington license...
