I was that guy laughing at you. I think everybody does what you did the first time up the palouse. You can actually go up a ways into the river past the flats for good catfish action as well. I have personally caught over 100 cats in the last 5 years there (yearly vacation). Another tip for boatless...

My dad caught a 12 lb catfish at paradise park a few years back. I went to the park and hooked about an eight foot sturgeon, and caught a 4 lb blue. Better luck in the snake!

OK, let's take this one step further, cause I don't have it figured out. The bait rule is for trout, that is clear, and I understand it. I've been to harts and swofford more than a few times. I always get skunked. Does anyone have any advice on where the fish are and what time of year is the best to catch them?
I go to the palouse once a year and catch a bunch of channels and blues, but never on the westside have I found luck.
