Dropped our lines in the lake at about 6:45am. I brought *ALL* my kids with me this time, as well as my Uncle and his daughter so he could help me deal with all the kids(I have 4 of them). We got set up on the beach and started fishing. There was one other guy there that was catching fish at a pretty steady rate and had his limit by about 9am. We, however, had nothing. He shared the secret with us.. I believe it was a size 14(??) hook and bright green power bait. Smallest thing... never would have thought.. My uncle tried it out and sure enough he started catching fish. Mostly 10-12" Rainbows, but his daughter wasn't complaining. My kids and I however didn't catch a thing. People started showing up at about 9:30... like so many people there were lines in the water every 4 feet along the beach. It may just be me, but I think that is rude as can be. My daughters pole was taken from her by a fish. Took right off in to the lake. 30 minutes later, a guy 30 feet down from us caught the line and reeled the pole in....minus the fish of course because the sinker snagged on some rocks and I had to break the line. We broke 3 other poles that morning, flipped my tackle box into the lake, broke the tip off my pole, snapped the front off of another reel, and when I had run out of poles, I borrowed one form my uncle. A snoopy pole. When I cast it... the FIRST time... it blew up mid way through casting and parts went into the lake... the thumb button was never found. I did happen to catch a fish on that cast but when it was almost within net distance it spit the hook. Pack it up. We're going home. This might be the one instance where a good day at work beats a bad day fishing. I like my job, and this was a BAD day of fishing. I like the lake though...I would still go back.
