Arrived at the lake around 11a.m. Only about four other boats out. Much to my dismay, the weather began to clear up while I was unloading; I have never done well at all whenever the sun was out at this lake. Anyway, with a water temperature at 47 degrees, I started working the shoreline along the highway with a beaded hare's ear and for the next three hours, never even had a bump. The others anglers I spoke with also reported absolutely no results. As I approached "the log," I made a long cast up against it where I've always gotten a strike. True to its nature, I took a monster hit and eventually netted a 19" 'bow, one of the largest I've ever caught there. Other than an 8" rainbow that decided to mug my black mini-yarn leech, that was it for the day. What really made the day seem like a mercy mission was listening to the 'Hawks choke on another 'gimme...
