First time visit to Scooteney Reservoir. Very nice Campground, Day Use Area and Boat launch; lots of grassy areas and some shaded tables, clean restrooms, etc… Fished from a boat with our 3 kids. Wasn’t sure how to fish this lake. Knew there were walleye, bass and perch, so we drifted worms for a while trying different areas. Also cast jigs along the rocky shoreline areas. Caught a couple of perch, a couple of bass, and a couple of sunfish. Enough to make it interesting, but not exactly “getting into them”. Gave up fishing when it finally got too hot, and just let the kids steer the boat around the lake. River outlet leads to other larger “lake” areas which we didn’t try. Good number of Pelicans and Cormorants to be seen here, too, for you bird watchers. Will likely come back for a longer stay (in the campground) and try again to figure how to catch more fish here!
