Went to my friend dylans cabin fished Friday night and most of Saturday. When we got there Friday we tried to coax some of the few bass into biting. Started of with some crankbaits off the docks and all I got was a small rainbow! Later on when it started to get dark switched to worms that we fished off the bottom. I got the first hit which was a pretty small cutthroat but it was bigger than the last so we kept it. We didn't get a strike for a while and laid our poles on the dock, when Dylan was checking out his tackle a cutthroat hit his worm and pulled his whole rod into the water! At first we didn't know it was a fish but that was the only thing possible and we saw a fish flailing around out in the water. It was dark already, he ran inside to get a flashlight and so I kept casting. On my 2nd cast I snagged his line and tried to real in his fish he wasn't to happy with this so he grabbed the line and reeled it in with his hands! We netted it and pulled his rod up by the line. !
It turned out to be a nice fat 14 inch cutt. We kept fishing and he got another one, it almost pulled his rod in again! It was even bigger about 15 1/2 inches, a real nice fish. It became to dark and all I pulled up were a couple of bullheads (sculpin) as did he. The next day we went into a small outlet because we were told the bass were spawning in it. Unfortunately after we had to paddle our way through the shallows because we couldn't risk the motor we didn't see or catch any bass except Dylan caught one that was about 5 or 6 inches and he also caught 3 trout that size or smaller. My reel wasn't working right and it didn't help that I had $1.50 10 pound test line that I bought on the way up. It was hopeless for these small "minnows" in here to get caught on my crankbait and after paddling all this way I decided to throw on a small worm and bobber. My reel kept getting caught up and my bait stolen from these impossible to hook minnows while Dylan had a good outfit and like I said managed to land 4 of these small fish. All in all a nice weekend.
