My fishing partner Bob J and I hit the lake at about 8:00 am on a mirror smooth Spencer Lake. We went down to the North end looking for late spawner and caught one 3 pounder, a 15 inch Rainbow and a Salamander (foul hooked). We then went down the west side of the lake and caught 8 more bass all weighing between 2.3 to 3.4 pounds. We threw back a few small ones and lost maybe 10 more bass all in the 2 to 3 pound class. Bob tied into one bass that ran 50 to 60ft of line off his reel, came into the boat, saw us and ran another 50 feet of line off the reel before getting off. We did get a good look at it though and it was only a 3 to 3 1/2 pounder but it was the meanest bass bob said he had run into in 15 years. We finished fishing at 2:00 Bob, as usual had the most fish caught but I finally had the biggest at 3.4. All bass were released after being measured, weighted and pictures taken if they were big enough.
