Started fishing about 0630 on a beautiful cloudless morning. Never even got to the main part of the lake. As you pass through the narrows there is a long stretch of cabbage weeds in 6-10ft of water. I had a ball catching perch on an ultralight spinning rod. Saw several very large bass (up to 5-6 lbs) swimming through the weeds but wasn't able to entice them to bite. Was using nightcrawlers for the perch and kept enough for a meal, although I had to catch 30 or more to find enough keepers. released the rest. Several boats coming back from the main lake reported catches of bass, upwards of 3 per boat.
