Fishing buddy Bruce and I planed to meet at Spencer Lake at 6:30 AM for a bass derby. I arrived at 6:15 and launched the bass tracker. Waited around the launch ramp gabbing with a canoe fisherman until about 6:45. No Bruce so I headed down the lake to fish. Fished hard for about 4 hours and only hooked 2 small bass. Knowing that Bruce sometimes confuses Spencer Lake and Phillips Lake, I figured he must have gone over to Phillips. I loaded the boat and headed to nearby Phillips. No Bruce. I decided to call it a day and head home. Just as I started home -- Guess what. Here comes Bruce. The poor guy is covered with greese and grime. He had a blowout on a trailer wheel -- had to shop for a new wheel and had a huge job removing the ruined one. Anyway, we launched and fished a couple of hours with out any fish. It was however a beautiful sunny day with little wind. The lakes seem to be about a month behind normal this spring for some reason for bass fishing. No spawning activity was noted. Hopefully Bruce has all his troubles behind him and will catch many lunkers this season. Tight lines and "Fish On."
