Fished Lake Chelan for trout on consecutive days in mid-July. Powerbait did the trick, producing limits both days on 13-15 inch Rainbow. I used eggs and worms on the hooks too, but simple orange powerbait worked just as well. They seemed to congregate in the shallow bays in 30-50 feet of water, so pretty near shore in this 1400 feet deep lake. When the water was quiet they were feeding on top, taking bait off the surface. When the wind kicked up as it often does, they seemed to like a few feet off the bottom better. Either way, they were plentiful.
