Fishing solo, I launched the old bass boat onto Spencer Lake for a bass try. There were about 10 tow rigs and trailers in the parking lot and 3 anglers fishing trout from the shoreline as I arrived at about 9:00 AM. One of the trailers in the parking lot was obviously a bass boat trailer and I was sure where he would be headed. Early in the season finds many bass anglers in the little shallow cove in the North End. And, sure enough, as I arrived there 2 bass anglers in a big fancy rig were plying the waters. I fished that area and several more areas out in the main lake with out so much as a strike. A shoreline angler told me as I left the the folks in the other bass boat had also caught a skunk. Trout anglers out in boats seemed to be hooking a few. A cold breeze on the water kept the day from being ideal -- but all in all it was a pleasent day to be on the water.
