I only had a couple hours today to devote to fishing so I passed on traveling to Amber. Elected to stay in close and tried Silver. Gosh, I wish North Silver hadn't dried up last year. That lake and it's trout were progressing nicely. My expectations weren't very high due to past poor success for trout here, but hey, the WDFW 2005 stocking report shows that 15,000 catchables and 80,000 fry were planted in March/April of last year. Lots of tiger musky and bass food I guess!!! As usual, I got skunked again, for the second time this year at Silver. I watched a chironimid hatch come and go without a single strike. Now folks, I'm not the most talented fly fisherman to ply Washington's waters but I've been known to catch an occasional fish in lakes planted with 100,000 trout! Maybe it's just poor luck. But maybe the state should reconsider and redistribute future fish in other lakes, ie that madhouse known as West Medical! Also Medical, Amber, Coffeepot and Upper Twin, not to mention Hawk, Crab and Cottonwood Creeks!! Don't dump 80,000 fry in a lake that's rapidly becoming famous for huge muskies!!! Doesn't pass the common sense test as far as I'm concerned, but then again, I'm not a fish biologist. Just my thoughts......
