While traveling up the beautiful Columbia River Gorge on Highway #14, I stopped at Grant Lake and made a few casts in hopes of enticing a few smallmouth bass. I have caught several nice fish while casting from the rock-rip-rap shoreline on previous trips.. But, alas, on this day, I found no action. Part of the no action problem was, it is early in the season and another was that the water in the lake was draining back out to the Columbia via a culvert. Best action seems to be when the water is coming in through the culvert. Spinnerbaits have been my most productive lure on this nice little body of water.
