My friend Roy and I went over on the 9th of July for some damsel fly fishing. We got on the water about 4 A.M. and there were some active feeders early in the day. I landed two browns in the 20 inch range and Roy landed acouple of nice rainbows. We both lost a few fish each also.
The patterns were..........well let me say we were fishing dry flies,
but not damsels.
After the sun got up and the temperature started to rise, the fish got real sulky. Typically at this time of year there are lots of fish
prowling for damsel nymphs, but not on this day. The only pods of fish I saw this day were BLUEGILLS, and lots of them. Their spawning must be over because there were thousands of them about 3/4 inch long near the launch site. If we could convince the poachers to take bluegills instead of muddy tasting trout it might put off the inevitable.
It's been ten years since Lenice has been re-habbed, and the fish
consistantly go over 20 inches. If you do go please fish with as heavy a leader as needed, play the fish hard and quickly. If you get broken off that fish still counts, but a fish on its side gasping for oxygen counts against you times ten.
Go fishing, and kill deerflies!
