We fished Moses Lake Saturday May 18, and Sunday morning May 19. We had camped at Cascade park and fished primarily around the mouth of the Lewis Horn and to the south of the island there. We made one run on Saturday down to the area around the connection to the Potholes.
We caught a total of six walleye of which 4 were legal size, and one more was probably legal, but not by much. the keepers were 18 1/2 to 23 inches. Most of these fish were caught on crawler harnesses, but a couple were caught on jigs or crankbaits. Some of the best fishing was from the shore at night, right in the campground, when we caught a pair of nice fish during a few minutes of idly flipping small jigs. Green and silver seemed to be the preferred color, though the rainbow trout colored crankbait also worked.
Talking to other anglers confirmed that the fishing was quite good for most people those days. The people who are experienced walleye fisherman were catching limits.
