Coffee Pot Lk. started early 6PM.we were trolling size 12 green
mylar bead head flies.Flyfishing with 5-6 wgt rods with floating lines out
to the backing line with about 12 to 15 feet 3 to 4lb test, drags set light.
very slow troll elec. motors speed 1 or 2. Rainbows averaging 2 to 3.5lbs
some as large as 7lbs,these fish fight incredibly HARD.
As the day wears on, go bass fishing with hand tied deer hair flies
(poppers)with alot of flash in the tails, also used yellow, purple, red natural
deer hair. Look for high rock bluffs as the bass will hang under these
ledges. Also in coves that have heavy brush growth hanging into the lake.
slow to fast stripping did'nt seem to matter, sometimes just leaving the
deer hair on top for up to 45 seconds would prove to be the best way and
aproach. The take was from easy to violent.By 11:00AM WE HAD 4 BASS,5 TROUT
AND LOST 2 BASS AT THE BOAT AND 1 TROUT.Coffee Pot Lk. has selective gear
restrictions,barbless hooks,no bait.single hook only.Gas motors are
allowed. The lake turns over in july, and gets real murky! It opens in
march,fantastic fisherie JWM.TIGHT LINES.
