I called the Wildlife Department the morning before I was going up to Coffeepot lake to see if it was ice free. They assured me that it was open and fishable. Upon arriving, I found no open water and the ice was two to four inches thick. I should have brought my ice auger along , but I am a fly fisherman and I would have to cut a hell of a hole to fish in. I think the Wildlife Dept. better wake up and give out more accurate information before people drive 60 -100 miles and find out that it was a waste of time.
