Friday, Aug. 28th I met a client at Wenberg State Park at 6 AM. We fished the shoreline for the first couple hours using crank baits trying to raise a largemouth or two. Picked up a few small fish and missed one bucketmouth that would have gone at least five pounds. My client couldn't believe the size of that fish when it came busting out of the water and through his crank bait back at him. We went to plastics and found the smallmouth very
active with many fish in the three pound range. If you carolina rig a lizard in pumpkin once you locate the fish you will have success on this lake. I like to add a little scent for I've found the fish will hold on to the plastic longer. This is a great lake to take your kid fishing. The sunfish, trout, bass will provide a great outing for the youngster, just put a worm on his hook and he is in business. The sun fish in this lake are nice size and very aggressive. Some the size of my hand, slammed our crank baits and their mouths are no bigger than the size of your little finger
This is fun fishing for a youngsters and adults alike.
